In the spirit of upholding beauty resolutions you can keep, we’re vowing to keep our January skin care regimen short and sweet. That post-holiday-season reality can be brutal—so to minimize the overwhelm and maximize our time, we’re making (and sticking to!) a routine that works.

Balance is the goal, here. Chances are that a solid month of late nights combined with over-working your skin (all in the name of a picture-perfect complexion) with at-home peels and too much exfoliation has left your skin worse for wear. So, to remedy a month of don’ts, we’re abiding by a few simple dos:

DO:

• Stick to the basics. Make sure you’re cleansing, toning, and moisturizing daily. Mask and exfoliate as needed, one to three times a week.
• Introduce new products into your routine one at a time. It’s tempting to try everything you were gifted at once, but that’s often when things go awry. Instead, allow each newcomer its moment to shine; you’ll get a better read of whether or not it’s right for you.
