Vitamin A helps support collagen production to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, boost skin cell turnover, and refine the appearance of pores (thanks to its ability to reduce oil production). The result? Visibly smoother, plumper, and more youthful-looking skin.
Not exactly: Retinol is a type of Retinoid found in Vitamin A, and because it’s a derivative, Retinol is typically gentler in strength. You’ll commonly find it in over-the-counter (OTC) products listed as Retinyl Palmitate or Retinyl Acetate.
It depends on your skin type and the active percentage in formulas. You can use Vitamin A with Retinol products, but if you’re prone to irritation or have naturally sensitive skin, cut back on the Retinoids and try starting with one Vitamin A product 1-2 times per week.
Again, it depends on the active Vitamin A percentage in the product you’re using—and your skin type. Most of our skin care products are formulated with a Vitamin A derivative and designed for daily use. In other scenarios however, it’s best to take it slow to build up your skin’s tolerance. Start using your Vitamin A, retinol, or retinoid 1-2 times a week (leaving a few days in between for your skin to rest), take it up a notch to every other day, and if your skin can handle it, make Vitamin A a part of your nightly routine.
